Arakne (Art Woman)

Under the Patronage of the Municipality of Lecce for Itinerary Rosa. Arakne, is the mythological figure narrated by Ovid in the book “Metamorphoses” and transformed into a spider by Athena, forced to spin and weave for life from the mouth. Besides the presence mythological, a particular form of permanency of the myth of Arachne can be found in Apulian tarantismo phenomenon, a ritual-choral music in charge of healing from the effects of the bite of a spider mythical, the tarantula.
For the event was invited Deodata Cofano. She is psychologist, expert on myth and responsible of Taranta Therapy Association, she will present between historical videos and stories of remedies of popular culture as awaken the positive energy through the dance of the tarantula. In the dance of the tarantula, in fact, find themselves in fact the characteristic elements of the story of Arachne: the transformation of the woman into a spider, the challenge to the divine and the superior value and almost supernatural art. Tarantism also reveals the incarnation of a myth of the Feminine for Women, being a manifestation of a form of eros foreclosed and venting from the constraints of a rigidly patriarchal society. Among the influences of the cult of the Magna Mater, dual elements valence Dionysian and the constant value of the symbolism of the wire, the myth metamorphic woman-spider comes to the representation of women as femme fatale, who sews life and death in a continuous interweaving.

Performance of MASSIMILIANO MANIERI (with Michaela Stifani): “The ITALICA (all references to people, events or places, is by no chance).” In the gallery, a female figure dressed in white, arms and feet seem limbs that branch into the room, becoming a sort of shell unreal that only located in the center and contains the body, and its shape.
